Week 2 - Islam and Sustainable Development
The concept of sustainable development in Islam can be defined as the balanced and simultaneous realization of consumer welfare, economic efficiency, attainment of social justice and ecological balance in the framework of a evolutionary knowledge based, socially interactive model defining the shuratic process.
Islam and development heavily relates to relationship with Allah, with fellow human being and environment (surroundings).

2. Islam and Environmental
sustainability
- Allah has given everyone on this earth the privilege to use his sources for free such as water, air, nature. The least we can do is to use it in appropriate amount and leave some for others to use. As prophet Muhammad said “The benefit of a thing is in return for the liability attached to it”, and that liability refer to responsibility as a whole to keep it the way nature is, clean and pure.
3. Islam and Economic

Islam prohibits poverty as it as considered as
disbelief (kufr). Islam promotes waqaf (endowment) and zakat (alms) to share wealth
in society as they poor people who cannot even afford to eat a meal.
