Week 1 - Introduction to Sustainable Development

What I have learned from today’s class is through the video and slide,

To think using the system thinking encourages analysis and enables us to understand complex and often hidden dynamics throughout our world

1.     From what I understand, Sustainable development means development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

The concepts are:

-          Living within certain limits of earth’s capacity to maintain life

-          Understanding the interconnections among economy, society and environment

-          Maintaining a fair distribution of resources and opportunity for this generation and the next

Environmental, social and economic needs to sustain

2.     To determine the balance between economic development, social sustainability and environmental conservation is finding the balance between economic growth that is all in including socially and environmentally but to a certain boundary. For instance in economic development, increased in job creation. That will lead to social sustainability in fair labor practices and can relate to environmental conservation such as the responsibility of resource control.

3.     The fundamental principles of sustainable development 5P are:

-          People

-          Planet

-          Prosperity

-          Peace

-          Partnership
